All Things New AgainScroll down to see large picture Tulips are one of the harbingers of spring, and among the loveliest are those that have a candy striped red and white coloring. Worked in stitches borrowed from surface work, All Things New Again mimics these beautiful flowers while giving the opportunity to learn realistic shading the easy way. Stitching is done on cream congress cloth, but the outer background is covered with custom painted gauze. There is NO counting of gauze threads. Techniques covered while stitching the graceful flowers are: the easy way to do realistic shading with silk, value placement to form proportion and perspective, importance of light source location, use of partial threads to create special effects, multi-directional shading, couching twisted cord and flat braid. All Things New Again is a delightful composition that will brighten the area wherever it is hung.
